The Evolution of Summit+Shore

Spending his weekends hiking in Snowdonia and the Peak District meant that there was a real need for a capable backpack for Max.

2019

Humble Beginnings

Starting on the Cheshire plains, the early seed of an idea was about to become something much bigger. Our founder, Max, found himself struggling to find a backpack that was both stylish and performed well.

On a wet spring afternoon, a sudden downpour caused Max's college backpack to be absolutely soaked, ruining books and his laptop. From this moment on, he made it a mission to make a backpack that looked great, and performed great.

Initial Development

As Max began spending his weekends hiking in Snowdonia and the Peak District, there was now a real need for a capable backpack.

After going through multiple hiking backpacks, the development of what would become the very first Summit+Shore began.

Summit+Shore would be later named after Max's favourite hike, Gyrn Ddu, where he was able to hike from the campsite by the shore right to the summit.

Prototypes + The Daily 1.0

After learning more about the fashion industry at Manchester Metropolitan University, he decided to invest in his idea. Creating multiple prototypes of what would become The Daily 1.0 drove Max to success.

Following the release of The Daily 1.0, the Summit+Shore brand went from strength to strength. The years that followed saw multiple drops of The Daily 1.0 to excellent feedback, and later the release of The Classic 1.0, expanding the range.

2023

Expanding The Range

After a great success and excellent feedback from The Daily 1.0, the new year began with an expansion to the range.

The Classic 1.0 was designed to be more of a traditional backpack, but with the same great materials and internal organisation that Summit+Shore fans loved so much.

2025

Online Store + The Daily 2.0

With an already popular range of backpacks, the company expanded and opened the new online store you see today.

The new version of The Daily was also released, adding new features and some improvements to the already-best-selling backpack.
